Botham Jean’s Brother Forgives, and Hugs, Ex-Cop Who Killed His Brother

Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger was sentenced to 10 years in prison this week for the killing of an unarmed man in his own apartment.

Guyger said she thought she was in her own apartment, and that there was an intruder in her home. She ended up shooting and killing Botham Jean instead.

During an impact statement on Wednesday, Botham's 18 year old brother read, "I'm not going to say I hope you rot and die...I personally want the best for you."

He then walked across the court room and hugged her. Watch the emotional moment below:

"I wasn't going to say this in front of my family," Brandt Jean told Guyger. "I don't even want you to go to jail. I want the best for you because I know that's exactly what Botham would want for you. Give your life to Christ. I think giving your life to Christ is the best thing Botham would want for you."
