Woman Gets a Closer Look at the Lions... By Going Inside the Exhibit

Sometimes you really can't make this stuff up. Some people really make us just shake our head.

Over the weekend, a woman made news because she climbed over the visitor safety net at a Bronx Zoo's African lion exhibit.

Yes, you read that correctly.

A video of the encounter was posted on Instagram and appears to show the woman standing merely a few feet away from the male lion.

The lion and the woman stared at each other for a short period of time before she started to taunt the lion. In the video, you can see the woman start raising her arms and wiggling her body.

The lion was not entertained. He simply just kept staring at the woman.

Hernán Reynoso, the man who recorded the moment could not believe what he was seeing. At first he thought the woman was just an added feature to the exhibit. ""But when I see ... she just was there, dancing, saying, 'Hi,' to the lion and everything and that was crazy," Reynoso said.

The Bronx Zoo was able to confirm the incident and advised others not to try this again.

"This action was a serious violation and unlawful trespass that could have resulted in serious injury or death. Barriers and rules are in place to keep both visitors, staff and animals safe," the zoo told NBC 4 New York. "We have a zero tolerance policy on trespass and violation of barriers."

According to the zoo, there were no injuries from this incident.

Honestly we shouldn't have to make this statement. But it sure seems like we do.

DO NOT go close to these animals.

Just because they are at the zoo, does not mean they won't hurt you.

There's protective barriers for a reason.
