Last Saturday, Iowa State fan Carson King arrived at for the 3 p.m. game and was pumped to cheer on his former school’s football team.
While there, the 24-year old brought a sign to hold up during the game in the chance he appears on television.
The sign read, “Busch Light needs replenished. Venmo Carson-King-25.”
His sign was seen by millions and the money poured in. He meant it to be a joke but it became more than that. King’s Venmo account got over $1,000 from people all over the U.S.
He bought one case of Busch Light and donated the rest of the money to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City. He decided to do more and made a new fundraiser that has raised around $6,000.
The account will remain open until the end of the month when King plans to donate the money himself.
