According to the Los Angeles Times, officials are going to attempt to raise the sunken Conception. This was the boat that caught on fire on Labor Day and had 34 causalities. As the investigation intensifies, officials believe the only way to get a better idea of what caused the fire is to examine the boat themselves.
Sources close to the investigation said that the boat could be brought to shore as early as Wednesday. There has been efforts to bring the boat earlier but poor weather has stopped these attempts.
Once the Conception is on shore, authorities are expected to participate in a lengthy examination to determine the cause of the fire.
As well since only 33 bodies have been recovered, officials are hoping that towing the boat will help them find the final victim.
The team working on this case includes federal investigators from the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S Coast Guard. Over the last two days they have been searching the Santa Barbara Harbor office of the Conception operator hoping to find some information on this tragedy.
