Over the past couple of years we've seen a surge in pop-ups ranging from theatrical releases, food crazes, TV show reboots, and so many more. It has been an Instagram lovers dream being able to visit locations with a multitude of photo-ops to grace the timelines. There's a new pop-up, however, that is certainly one of a kind. Pet Pop has just opened up in Los Angeles and bills itself as the first pet themed pop-up.
The interactive museum is a fun visit for both humans and pets aimed to raise awareness for animal homelessness. The museum, created by Alex Pischalnikov and Joe Kerwin, even takes a further step and hosts on-site adoptions.
"Adoption is a really big part of what we stand for... We donate a portion of our proceeds. So any ways that you can put all of those together in a business and give back - that's something I would love to do," said Pischalnikov during a special pet-influencer private event.
The event is open to the public Wednesdays-Mondays from July 11-Sept. 30 in Downtown Los Angeles (2020 E. 7th Street).
"I got the idea for this when I went to a pop-up in LA about a year and a half ago. I was really interested in the whole concept."
Pischalnikov reflected on his initial interest in the business of pop-ups, but acknowledged that the idea for Pet Pop didn't really click for him until he adopted his pet dog, Cleo, two weeks later (Hint - Cleo is a super sweet german shepherd that Alex loves bringing to the office everyday!)
"It kind of clicked for me that, there's a lot of these pop-ups that are really focused on things like ice cream, tacos, happy stuff. But the connection that people feel with animals is just so serious and pure. That's kind of what I wanted to celebrate."
The event is perfect for a variety of outings. Families looking to spend a fun night together can stop by. Or if you're looking to impress a special date then cute photos and adorable pets could easily be the best way to do so.
"We just want to blend experiences and pets."
The event is more than just an Instagram experience however. Pets can meet new friends while the humans have a range of activities to enjoy including a VR experience in the Petflix and Chill lounge.
"We're really trying to make it for everybody," Alex says.
Those that aren't local to Los Angeles, don't fret. The partners plan to make the interactive museum a traveling pop-up as soon as they complete their round here in the city of angels.
Tickets are purchased online, which offers different tiers for adult, child, and pet. To get safety in order, Pet Pop only asks that all of the veterinarian records are up to date. Once tickets are purchased, theres a tutorial that guest receive on animal care and management.
Tickets can be purchased for $28 per adult, $20 per child, and $10 per dog.
