A 28-year-old Florida man who was awaiting sentencing for an attempted murder charge had to be restrained after he threw urine on the prosecutor inside a Florida courtroom, this week.
According to a police report from the Broward County Sheriff's Office, Albert Narvaez, of Pembroke Pines, excused himself during the hearing at one point on Wednesday to use the restroom. But when he returned, Narvaez charged at Broward Assistant State Attorney Andrew Newman and threw the urine at the prosecutor while yelling, "He pissed on me! He told me to do it! F*** him!"
It's unclear who Narvaez was referring to in his outburst. The police report said the urine "went inside his mouth and outer clothing."
"He lunged toward my table," Newman told The Sun Sentinel. "I saw a bottle of some kind in his hand. He screamed a profanity at me, and the liquid landed on the table and on my suit and clothing."
The report didn't say how Narvaez managed to carry the urine back into the courtroom.
Narvaez's sentencing was placed on hold while the Broward County District Attorney's Office asks for another prosecutor to be appointed to the case. Narvaez was convicted of attempted murder using a firearm in March after a 2017 incident in which he forced his ex-girlfriend to remain in his car while he threatened her with a gun. At one point, the woman managed to escape and he fired at her as she tried to run away, but he did not injure her.
"We are absolutely incensed by what occurred," Chief Assistant State Attorney Jeff Marcus said. "I wish the public knew the number of threats prosecutors receive on a daily basis, but they have the courage to go into court every day to ensure that justice is pursued against these violent offenders."
