CAIR Decries White Supremacist Fliers at Chapman

ORANGE (CNS) - The Southern California branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations today condemned white supremacist fliers posted on Chapman University's campus in Orange.

Orange County police said they have been notified about the fliers that appear to be from the Patriot Front organization and are keeping an eye on the situation as no crime has been committed.

The fliers were slapped on top of posters promoting immigration issues when students returned for fall classes Aug. 26. The fliers included the slogan, ``Not stolen, conquered'' with a link to the organization's website.

Patriot Front is an organization that split from the Vanguard America group following the violent rallies in Charlottesville, Virginia, two years ago.

``White supremacy, xenophobia and intolerance have no place in America, especially not in institutions of higher learning,'' said Hussam Ayloush, executive director of CAIR-LA. ``We stand in solidarity with targeted minorities and against the actions of bigots who violate our nation's long- standing principles of religious tolerance and inclusion.''

Ayloush said there has been a ``continuing trend of normalizing hate'' that he said has ``emboldened bigots in their speech as well as their actions, as evidenced by the murder of 22 people in El Paso, Texas, last month, the massacre of 50 people in New Zealand and the shooting at a synagogue in Poway earlier this year. We will continue to stand against hatred and intolerance. Hate will not prevail.''

Chapman officials did not immediately respond to a message.
