'Angel Has Fallen' Leads Holiday Box Office

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The action film “Angel Has Fallen,” starring Gerard Butler as a U.S. Secret Service agent, has taken in $14.8 million to lead all movies over the holiday weekend, according to updated industry estimates released today.

Universal's R-rated comedy “Good Boys” was second for the second straight week, with $12.1 million Friday through Monday at theaters in the United States and Canada, according to Comscore.

Third place went to “The Lion King” with $9.3 million, followed by “Hobbs & Shaw” with $8.2 million, and the faith-based drama “Overcomer” with $7.7 million.

Rounding out the top 10 releases were “Ready or Not” ($6.9 million), “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark” ($6.2 million), “Dora And The Lost City of Gold” ($5.7 million), “The Angry Birds Movie 2” ($5.6 million) and “Spider-Man: Far From Home” ($5.5 million).
