John Stamos Still "Can't Process" Lori Loughlin's College Admissions Scam

John Stamos finally opened up about the college admissions scandal his longtime co-star Lori Loughlin is currently embroiled in. While Loughlin appeared in court on Tuesday (Aug 27.) for her alleged involvement in the scam, Stamos did his best to defend her during a new interview with GQ.

"I gotta be careful," Stamos said of his ability to discuss the scandal while the legal proceedings are ongoing. "I want to wait until the trial happens, if it does, or whatever the result is, and then talk about it," Loughlin faces up to 40 years in prison for allegedly paying $500k in bribes in order to secure her daughters spots at the University of Southern Guilty. Loughlin, along with her husband Mossimo Giannulli, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Stamos confirmed that he's still close with Loughlin, despite the unfortunate circumstances. "I'll tell you one thing that has been strange is: Honestly I can't figure it out. It doesn't make sense," Stamos told GQ. "I talked to her the morning everything hit. I just can't process it still." The 56-year-old Full House star also admitted he's not convinced a crime was actually committed. "Whatever happened, I'm pretty sure that the punishment is not equal to the crime, if there was a crime," he said.

Though Stamos has refrained from commenting on the situation publicly, it comes as no surprise to fans of Full House and it's Netflix sequel Fuller House that Stamos fully supports Loughlin. The cast is close-knit on and off screen. Candace Cameron Bure has publicly defended Loughlin in the past, telling The Today Show: “We would never want to talk about someone that’s such a dear and close friend. I’ve already said that we are family and we stand by each other and pray for each other and we’ll always be there for each other."
