L.A. County Jobless Rate at 4.5% in July

Employers Adding Jobs In May Pushes Unemployment Rate Down To 3.8 Percent

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Los Angeles County rose to 5% in July, compared with a seasonally adjusted rate of 4.5% in June, the state Employment Development Department reported today.

According to the EDD, 4,864,300 people in Los Angeles County were employed in July, out of a total workforce of 5,121,600, leaving 257,300 people out of work.

In Orange County, where seasonally adjusted numbers were also not available, the July jobless rate was 3.2%, up from 3% the previous month.

Statewide, however, California's unemployment rate was 4.1% in July, down from 4.2% in June and tying a record low first set in July through December 2018.
