Former Vice President and Presidential hopeful Joe Biden was speaking at the Asian and Latino Coalition PAC in Iowa earlier this week.

He was talking about education in poverty stricken areas when he said this:

"We have this notion that somehow if you're poor, you cannot do it. Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids".

The Washington Times reports that it looks like Biden realized how bad this statement sounded because he tried to back pedal and add:

"...wealthy kids, black kids, Asian kids, No, I really mean it".

The "Trump War Room" Twitter account retweeted the awkward moment.

Commenter GreenPlane explains the issue best under the Washington Times article:

"So no white kids are poor?"

It also makes it sound like the only ones who are poor are people of color.

This is only the latest in a history of racial remarks.

Back in 1975, when Biden was a senator, he criticized the busing system taking kids to integrated school by saying it was,

"...a rejection of the entire black awareness concept, where black is beautiful, black culture should be studied; and the cultural awareness of the importance of their own identity, their own individuality".

In 2006, he was commenting about South Asians in Delaware and said:

"You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking."

Even this year he reminisced about knowing two senators who were segregationists, James Eastland and Herman Talmadge.

Wonder what the next thing is going to be...
