An Atlanta man was arrested after he allegedly attacked a driver with a machete at a gas station. The dramatic scene was captured on video by a bystander. The incident began when Joshua Evans was sitting a red light, and Dave Williams pulled behind him and started honking his horn.
Evans pulled into a gas station and parked his car to run into the store. Williams followed him and started screaming at him as he exited the store. The two men began to argue, and Evans threw a punch as Williams charged towards him.
Williams then returned to his car and grabbed a machete.
"I hear a lady like, 'He has a machete. He has a machete.' So I'm trying run from him," Evans told WSB-TV.
As Evans was running for his life, he slipped and fell, allowing Williams to start striking him with the machete.
"It didn't look like he wanted to kill him, but it did look like he wanted to hurt him bad," the person who recorded the video told the news station.
Evans' girlfriend managed to stop the attack by jumping on Williams' back, causing him to get back in his car and drive away.
The person who recorded the attack was able to get a photo of Williams' license plate, and a blue Walmart vest with Williams' name tag attached fell out of his car as he left.
Officers tracked down Williams at a nearby Walmart and took him into custody. He was booked into the Cobb County jail on charges of aggravated assault and battery. He remains behind bars without bond.
Evans required stitches on his fingers and wrist but says he is lucky that he was not more seriously injured.
"Stitches on this finger. Stitches on my wrist. He caught me in the back," Evans stated. "Anything could've happened to me. I could've lost my life over that."
