GLENDALE (CNS) - Utility crews today were working to restore electrical service to customers in Glendale affected by an outage.

According to Glendale Water & Power, a late-morning ``failure'' at an electrical substation ``caused multiple power outages'' around the city.

The outage was first reported about 11 a.m., according to Eliza Papazian, the utility's community relations coordinator.

By about 3:30 p.m., most of the customers who were originally affected had their service restored. Neighborhoods remaining without electricity were parts of downtown Glendale, as well as the Rossmoyne and Brockmont areas, Papazian said.

Numbers of affected customers were not immediately available, she said.

Crews were at work on restoration efforts, and in the meantime, cooling stations were available at four locations: Adult Recreation Center, 201 E. Colorado St.; Maple Park Community Center, 820 E. Maple St.; Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Ave.; and Sparr Heights Community Center, 1613 Glencoe Way.
