Clown With Chainsaw Leads California Police on High-Speed Chase

California Highway Patrol officers have arrested and identified the man in a clown mask who led them on a high-speed chase while brandishing a chain saw. Yep, that really happened.

Santa Ana resident Damik A. Disdier was taken into custody after leading California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit from Westminster to Venice Beach, CHP officials say. The chase began just before 3 p.m. on Saturday, after several motorists reported someone driving two-to-three miles per hour in the high speed lane on the 405 freeway.

He was "sitting on top of the vehicle holding a chain saw," wearing a clown mask and a green wig, according to the CHP.

Once officers began pursuing him, Disdier put the pedal to the metal, increasing his speed to more than 70 mph. He appeared to surrender near Venice Beach, but then took off on foot before a group of beach goers jumped him.

A search of his car revealed the chainsaw was a plastic toy, according to his arrest report. Disdier, who's being held on a $75,000 bond, did not offer a reason for his bizarre behavior.
