L.A. County Jobless Rate Holds Steady in June

Employers Adding Jobs In May Pushes Unemployment Rate Down To 3.8 Percent

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Los Angeles County held steady at 4.5% in June, compared to the previous month, the state Employment Development Department reported today.

Last month's unemployment rate was slightly below the June 2018 rate, which was 4.6%, according to the EDD.

In Orange County, where seasonally adjusted numbers were not available, the June jobless rate was 3%, up from 2.4% the previous month.

Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for California was 4.2% in June, identical to the rate in May and June 2018.

According to the EDD, total nonfarm employment increased in Los Angeles County by about 63,000 jobs between May and June. Educational and health services led the way by adding 22,900 jobs, mostly in health care and social assistance fields.
