27-year-old MLB pitcher for the Los Angeles Angeles, Tyler Skaggs unexpectedly died on Monday.

Due to his young age and the unexplained cause of death, false reports are starting to surface from certain news outlets.

Skagg's hometown's paper, the Santa Monica Observer, wrote an article suggesting that the 27-year-old may have died from a drug overdose.

The Angels organization has completely denied this claim.

'This article is categorically incorrect,' explained Angels spokesperson Marie Garvey. 'The cause of death is still under investigation as stated by the Southlake Police Department. We have tried to contact the paper to correct this story but have [been] unsuccessful in our attempts. This sort of reckless reporting from Tyler's hometown paper is disappointing and harmful.'

The article has now been edited to exclude the speculated details.
