On Monday, a top official in Mexico announced that they had deployed 15,000 troops to the border in order to stop the migrants from getting into the United States.

According to Defense Minister Luis Cresencio Sandoval, those deployed include army units as well as Mexico's national guard. He also added that they will be detaining those that attempt crossing the border.

“We simply detain them and turn them over to the authorities,” he said.

"Migration is not a crime, it is an administrative responsibility," Sandoval added.
