Last Friday, the California Citizens Compensation Commission voted in favor of giving Gov. Gavin Newsom and other state officials a salary increase. Are you surprised?!
According to Andrew LaMar, spokesman for the state's Human Resources Department, the commission voted 4-0 to give a 4% increase to their salaries, due to a "healthy state budget".
Following the vote, Newsom's salary will now go from $201,680 to somewhere around $209,747... For what?!
But Newsom isn't the only one benefiting.
The lieutenant governor, attorney general, treasurer, secretary of state, controller, insurance commissioner, superintendent of public instruction, board of equalization members, AND lawmakers in the house will all see a 4% increase.
According to LaMar, the new raises will go into effect on December 2.
