Unclear Whether O.J. Simpson Has Joined Twitter, Source Claims He Has

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - It remains unclear whether O.J. Simpson is actually using Twitter to share “all my thoughts and opinions on just about everything” even though a source close to Simpson told City News Service it was genuine.

The account, TheRealOJ32, is not verified by Twitter, and the first post includes video purporting to be Simpson but without clarification of when or where it was taped.

“Hey Twitter world, this is yours truly,” Simpson said at the start of the video. “Now coming soon to Twitter you'll get to read all my thoughts and opinions on just about everything. Now there's a lot of fake O.J. accounts out there, so this one, TheRealOJ32 is the only official one so it should be a lot of fun. I've got a little getting even to do, so God bless, take care.”

The Simpson account appeared on Twitter two days after the 25th anniversary of the June 12, 1994 slayings of his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and waiter Ron Goldman amid others that use his name or other terms affiliated with the case.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer turned sportscaster and actor was acquitted in 1995 of fatally stabbing and slashing the pair but found civilly liable in 1996 in a wrongful death lawsuit.

Simpson has paid virtually none of the $33.5 million in civil damages assessed to him.

Simpson, now 71, is living in Las Vegas, where he served about nine years in prison for an armed robbery at the Palace Station hotel/casino, where sports memorabilia was taken from a hotel room at gunpoint. Simpson claimed the items had been stolen from him.
