LOS ANGELES (CNS) - “Godzilla: King Of The Monsters” reigned over the box office this weekend, opening with $49 million at theaters in the United States and Canada, according to industry estimates released today.
The latest version of the decades-old Godzilla franchise topped “Aladdin,” which hauled in $42.3 million in its second week in theaters, Comscore reported.
The musical biopic “Rocketman” was third, opening with an estimated $25 million.
The horror film “Ma” was fourth, opening with $18 million, followed by “John Wick: Chapter 3” with $11.1 million.
Rounding out the top 10 releases, as estimated by Comscore, were “Avengers: Endgame” ($7.8 million), “Pokemon Detective Pikachu” ($6.6 million), “Booksmart” ($3.3 million), “Brightburn” ($2.3 million) and “The Hustle” ($1.3 million).
