How much time do you spend on your phone a day?

Go ahead.

Check the settings on your phone and see how many hours a day you spend on your phone.

I'll wait.

Ok, you checked right?

Have you ever thought about what that screen time does to your children?

According to NBC, it may be affecting your kids more than you think.

Apparently adults spend, on average, 9 hours a day on their smartphones and kids are taking notice.

NBC sat down with parents and kids to talk about smartphone usage.

Both adults and children feel the presence of smartphones in their lives. The children talk about how they often feel ignored by their parents while parents begrudgingly admit how they often think what is on their phone is more important than their kids at certain times.

Some of the adjectives children used when they explained how they felt about their parents using smartphones were sad, mad, lonely, and frustrated.

So what can you do to limit the disconnect between you and your kids?

It's pretty easy, honestly.

Make sure you have "device-free" times such as meals. If you do have to check your phone for something, make sure you explain what you are doing and why.

Simple right?

So, why aren't you doing it yet?

Go! Spend some time with your kids!
