PASADENA (CNS) - An active shooter drill was held on Wednesday at the Rose Bowl, with over 100 firefighters and law enforcement officers taking part.
The multi-agency drill, featuring people playing the part of victims, “will help fire and police agencies throughout the state better prepare to respond together to mass casualty events,” according to Carroll Wills of the California Firefighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee, a statewide labor- management training partnership.
The exercise simulated an attack by multiple shooters on people arriving at the venue for a concert, Wills said.
“When we see what is happening in the world around us, we ponder when it will happen here,” Pasadena Fire Department Chief Bertral Washington said. “Having the opportunity to train together under realistic conditions will set us up to respond quickly and effectively to save lives and protect the public.”
In addition to the Pasadena police and fire departments, participants also included firefighters and police officers from Glendale, Burbank, San Marino, South Pasadena and San Gabriel.
Rose Bowl security personnel and staff also participated.
