California pet owners could possibly soon purchase medical marijuana for their pets ailments. On Thursday, Senate voted 33-0 to permit the purchase if patients 18 and older have a valid recommendation from a veterinarian. Next, the bill will head to state Assembly.
The bill would give similar protection rights to veterinarians as a doctor prescribing the medical aid. Vets would also be safe from any disciplinary action taken by the Veterinarian Medical Board.
This bill comes after former Gov. Jerry Brown's law signed last year allowing vets to hold discussions regarding medical marijuana with animal owners.
