Amy Schumer's Newborn Son's Name Seems To Honor Another Famous Comedian

2018 Tony Awards - Red Carpet

Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer's baby boy has a pretty meaningful name.

On Tuesday (May 7), the actress revealed her newborn son's name on Instagram with an adorable image of the infant cuddled up with his Dada.

“Gene Attell Fischer And his dad Chris,” the 37-year-old captioned the cute father-son moment of Fischer carrying around his little man, who arrived Sunday (May 5). According to PEOPLE, Gene's middle name "Attell" may derive from Schumer's friend, funnyman Dave Attell, who invited her to perform a comedy gig at his New York City stand-up show in January.

The married couple introduced their bundle of joy to the world hours in a family-of-three snapshot posted to Schumer's Instagram hours after giving birth. “10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born,” she wrote alongside the pic of her receiving a supportive smooch above the cheek from her husband.

Schumer and the famous chef first revealed their pregnancy news in October. Eight months prior, the pair officially tied the knot in a secret ceremony in February 2018 after just three months of dating.

While it appears Schumer had a successful delivery, the Trainwreck revealed she'd been struggling with her health throughout her second trimester after she was hospitalized for hyperemesis gravidarum— a rare form of severe morning sickness that can extend throughout a pregnancy — less than a month during her pregnancy.
