'Harry Potter' Star Is Unrecognizable After Dramatic Weight Loss

Fans of Harry Potter know actor Timothy Spall for his role as "Peter Pettigrew." Pettigrew, of course, is a rat in every sense of the word - in his Animagus form, he was "Ron Weasley's" pet rat, Scabbers, but in his human form, "Pettigrew" was even more of a rat - he was the man who betrayed "Harry's" parents to "Lord Voldemort." "Pettigrew" is easily recognized by his pointy ears, his big mousy front teeth and his furry face, but you might not recognize Spall anymore. The actor has lost a huge amount of weight and looks nothing like his former self.

Spall recently appeared on the British talk show Lorraine and showed off his slimmed-down look. He told host Lorraine Kelly that if he was going to write a diet book, it'd be rather short. He stated, "It would be two pages. The first one is, food and booze is lovely and exercise is horrible. Right, turn over the page: If you eat too much and drink too much, you put on weight. If you eat about the right amount, you don't. And that's it really."

The actor also told England's Daily Mail, "I was a glutton. I loved food. I still do. But I didn't have a thing in my mind that told me when to stop eating."

Other factors played into his weight as well. He stated, "There's something of a chunky gene in the Spall side of the family. I was always chubby, then I got fat… It took a lot of hard work but I did it and I'm proud I did it. I completely revolutionized the way I went about my health. I'm all the better for it. It changed my life."

Spall previously had an even bigger health scare. 23 years ago he was diagnosed with leukemia and given weeks to live. He beat the disease, but it took a toll emotionally. He explained, "Perhaps eating was something to make me feel better. Who knows?"

You can see a much thinner Spall in the upcoming film The Corrupted.
