COMMERCE (CNS) - Parts of the Long Beach (710) Freeway will be closed in the Commerce, Vernon and East Los Angeles areas beginning tonight so crews can do road resurfacing and bridge-widening work.

The freeway will be fully closed between the Pomona (60) Freeway and the Santa Ana (5) freeways from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday and from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, according to Caltrans.

Also closed during those times will be the eastbound and westbound connectors from the Pomona Freeway to the southbound Long Beach Freeway, the southbound Cesar Chavez Avenue on-ramp, the southbound Third Street on- and off- ramps and the southbound Whittier Boulevard/Olympic Boulevard on- and off-ramp.

Two of four lanes of the southbound Long Beach Freeway will be closed from the Pomona to the Santa Ana freeways from 5 a.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Sunday.

Also closed during that period will be the eastbound and westbound connectors from the Pomona Freeway to the southbound Long Beach Freeway, the southbound Cesar Chavez Avenue on-ramp, the southbound Third Street on- and off- ramp and the southbound Whittier Boulevard/Olympic Boulevard on- and off-ramp.

“Residents and local businesses located near the freeway may experience noise, vibrations and dust associated with construction activities,” according to a Caltrans statement.
