Luke Perry's Final 'Riverdale' Episode Will Air This Week

Fred Andrews has been an integral part of Riverdale since the show's inception. The character's final episode will air on Wednesday (April 24) following Luke Perry's, who memorably brought Fred to life week after week on Riverdale, unexpected death. He passed away in early March as a result of a massive stroke. He was just 52-years-old.

Riverdale creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa took to Twitter on Sunday (April 21) to share the news with the show's devoted viewers. He also paid tribute to the late actor, as well, with a sweet message about Perry's performance in the episode. "This week’s Riverdale is the last episode Luke filmed. As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son. Wish these scenes could go on forever...," he wrote.

"Truly an honor attending a tribute to Luke at WB yesterday. Amazing stories told by his brave family and lifelong friends. This still is from this week’s Riverdale. These next few episodes are bittersweet. He’s gone and with us at the same time. Miss you and love you, Luke," he shared in a second message.

Wednesday night's episode is titled "Chapter Fifty-Four: Fear the Reaper." According to E!, Perry's final episode of Riverdale will see him counseling his on-screen son, Archie, as he "deals with the fallout from his latest boxing match." The CW has not announced how the show will handle the loss of Perry yet, though they've confirmed every future episode will be dedicated to the late actor.

Riverdale airs Wednesdays, 8 p.m. on The CW.
