Christopher Rivas is a Latino storyteller, educator, writer, actor, podcast host, and speaker. He comes from a Colombian mother and Dominican father and he no longer dates white girls. At least not for now. Well, at least not a certain white girl. He's still figuring it all out.
Rivas wrote a piece for The New York Times called, "I Broke Up With Her Because She's White." Provocative, definitely. Rivas tells Dr. Wendy that his story opened the floodgates of trolls and big mean-nasties attacking him. But did they read it? Probably not.
Rivas says he just wants to ask himself all the important questions. He just wants to make sure that what he says and wants and does is actually what he believes and not what he thinks he's supposed to believe.
Authentic. Honest. Courageous.
Rivas talks to Dr. Wendy about more than skin color. He talks to her about self-worth. The core of everything.
Rivas was born and raised in New York City, but now calls Los Angeles home.
