LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A 38-day streak of increases ended today when the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was unchanged, remaining at $4.074.
The average price rose 71.5 cents during the streak to its highest amount since July 31, 2015, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The streak was the longest since a 48-day streak from May 4-June 20, 2009.
The average price is 9.7 cents more than one week ago, 69.8 cents higher than one month ago and 46.6 cents greater than one year ago.
The Orange County average price rose to its highest amount since July 31, 2015, increasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.044, one day after a 29-day streak of increases ended with a decrease of two-tenths of cent.
The Orange County average price is 9.7 cents more than one week ago, 72.2 cents higher than one month ago and 47 cents greater than one year ago.
The rising prices are the result of a series of refinery issues that have reduced supply, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
