OK, we'll give you a few minutes to absorb the new teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode IX.
Wow. There's a whole lot happening here, starting with a new title for Episode IX.
The trailer begins with a shot of Rey standing in the desert alone while a voice-over from Mark Hamil talking about passing on the entirety of Jedi knowledge to Rey, but that this was her fight.
A tie silencer approaches Rey in the distance as she ignites her light saber and flips over the vessel, cutting it in half, showing that Rey has embraced the full power of the force.
The teaser shifts into a series of scenes giving us a glimpse of Kylo Ren rebuilding the mask he destroyed in The Last Jedi, plus Billy Dee Williams returning as Lando Calrisian at the helm of the Millineum Falcon.
Poe, Finn and Rey are also seen arriving on an isolated planet where we can see remnants of the destroyed Death Star in the background (Is it the Death Star from A New Hope? Or is it the one from Return of the Jedi? We still have too many questions!). And in perhaps the most shocking thing revealed by the teaser trailer, Emperor Palpatine's distinctive cackle can be heard at the end of the trailer.
We also have a title for Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (a name that is certain to create controversy among Star Wars fans who like to complain).
J.J. Abrams, who directed The Force Awakens, has returned to direct the final entry in the Skywalker saga for Disney after Rian Johnson took over the duties in The Last Jedi. According to Disney cheif Bob Iger, Star Wars Episode IX will be audience's last visit to a galaxy far, far away for awhile while they take a break.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise Of Skywalker arrives in theaterse on December 20, 2019.
