Police Say Thief Crawled Under Movie Theater Seats To Steal Woman's Wallet

Police in Folsom, California are warning people to carefully watch their belongings when they go to the movies after a thief managed to steal a wallet from a woman's purse while she and her husband were enjoying an afternoon matinee over the weekend. Barbara Dobbs reported the theft to the movie theater and was told it happens quite often. The manager explained that people will crawl under the seats while the movie is playing and go through people's purses and bags looking for cash and credit cards.

"The manager said, 'Yeah, that happens all the time. They climb under the seat during the movie, and they steal cards,'" Dobbs told ABC10.

The alleged thief then left the theater and racked up thousands of dollars in charges on her credit cards at a nearby Target and Home Depot.

“I was very angry at first,” she told KCRA. “They basically zeroed out my accounts, everything went into overdraft. They just kept charging and charging and charging.”

Authorities were able to capture surveillance camera footage of the alleged thief and have asked the public for help identifying the suspect.
