Body of Teen Girl Found Outside Compton Business

COMPTON (CNS) - The body of a 15-year-old girl who went missing on Friday was found today on the grounds of a business in Compton.

The body was discovered about 1:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Victoria Street, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported.

Sheriff's officials said only that the body was that of a female about 15-20 years of age, but a woman claiming to be the victim's mother, Blanca Bautista, told NBC4 the body was that of her 15-year-old daughter, Samantha Bustos.

Bautista told the station her daughter had claimed to be going to a sleepover with her best friend, but went to a party instead. She was last seen Friday in Compton, she told Channel 4.

Sheriff's officials said the victim had ``sustained traumatic injury'' to her upper body.

``The cause of the traumatic injury is unknown,'' sheriff's officials said. ``The cause of death and identity will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.''

The body was found face-down in bushes by a passerby, according to reports from the scene.

``This morning, we were told that they found a body on our property on the outside of our fenced-in area,'' Andy Miller, CEO of National Retail Systems, told KTLA5. ``They believe it happened some time Saturday evening.''

Miller said his company was working to provide security video to investigators.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
