UCI Upsets Kansas State During the NCAA Tournament

Friday, the University of California, Irvine made school history by beating Kansas State in their first NCAA Tournament game of the year.

People were surprised for a couple reasons:

  1. UCI was 13th-seated while Kansas State was 4th-seated, making UCI a relatively big underdog.
  2. UCI has never one an NCAA Tournament game before.

That's right! UCI has just made school history! Although there were some people who had hopes for UCI, such as President Barack Obama (as mentioned in the interview below), most people didn't see them being a huge threat. This all changed Friday.

This definitely makes the rest of March Madness an event to watch. I don't think there's anyone who demonstrates the feeling of the players and students after the win better than their coach, Russell Turner:

I can't wait to see what new surprises are in store for us throughout the rest of the tournament.
