Teacher Forces 4th Grader to Wash Off Ash Wednesday Cross

A fourth grade teacher in Utah is in hot water after she allegedly forced one of her students to wash the Ash Wednesday cross off his forehead.

The boy, William McLeod, says although he was the only student who showed with the ash on his head, his classmates had no issue with it after he explained the Catholic tradition to them...the teacher, not so much:

"She took me aside and she said, 'You have to take it off.' She gave me a disinfection wipe -- whatever they are called -- and she made me wipe it off."

The teacher later wrote McLeod an apology letter and gave him candy to help smooth things over.

The school has since launched an official investigation into the incident.
