Face Tattoos Help Authorities Track Down an Escaped Inmate

An escaped inmate didn't get as far as he'd hoped he would after breaking out of the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga Thursday afternoon (March 7th). Deputies were able to track, Mario Tafoya, 19, early Friday morning at a San Bernardino home.

Before being found yesterday, Tafoya was last seen running barefoot near Etiwanda Avenue and 6th Street. The exact location were Tafoya was found was not released. The inmate, a transient out of Redlands, was originally arrested on January 31st on suspicion of evading police and assault with a deadly weapon.

A news release states that, “Tafoya will be transported to West Valley Detention Center and booked for the escape.”

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Cindy Bachman says that the department will be looking into the incident.
