California lawmakers are experimenting with an idea of replacing sales tax with a carbon tax and Senator Ben Allen is one of the brains (or not brains) behind the motion.
The idea is that a carbon tax would eventually replace the state's sales-and-use tax in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. “Some products will cost quite a bit less as a result of the implementation of this and others will cost more,” Allen said.
This means more money for a cheeseburger! Because those cow farts are killing the world and so are you because you bought a cheeseburger, so now you will pay more tax.
Leave a message for Senator Allen and tell him what a silly idea this carbon tax would be.
