LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose two-tenths of a cent for the second straight day today and is now $3.336.
The average price is a half-cent more than one week ago and 4.2 cents higher than one month ago, but 8.4 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price rose seven-tenths of a cent to $3.304, one day after dropping one-tenth of a cent. It is four-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 5.2 cents more than one month ago, but 7.7 cents less than one year ago.
``Oil industry analysts say rain and unusually cold weather in California has depressed gasoline demand and at the same time we have seen an easing of supply worries caused by a Jan. 31 lightning strike-related power outage at the (Chevron) El Segundo refinery,'' said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
``Refineries are now producing the more expensive summer blend of gasoline so prices are not likely to drop much, but they are mostly holding steady.''
