Albert Finney has died at age 82.
The British actor's family confirmed his passing on Friday (February 8) morning, telling the Associated Press he "passed away peacefully after a short illness with those closest to him by his side."
Albert, a five-time Oscar nominee, had cancer back in 2011, however, it's unclear if it was related to his death.
The celebrated actor was known for his amazing ability at avoiding the Hollywood limelight, almost as much he was known for his incredible film career, which spanned more than five decades. He gained his first of five Oscar nominations for the film Tom Jones in 1963. The other films that landed him the remainder of his Oscar nominations include: Murder on the Orient Express , The Dresser , Under the Volcano , and Erin Brockovich .
Albert also famously starred in two of the Bourne films, alongside Matt Damon, and Skyfall , one of his final roles, alongside Daniel Craig . Some of his more famous roles include Ebenezer Scrooge in the 1970s film Scrooge, and Daddy Warbucks in the 1982 film Annie .
The actor was married three times — fist to Jane Wenham, from 1957 to 1961, then to Anouk Aimée, from 1970 to 1978, and lastly to Pene Delmage in 2006.
He leaves behind one son, Simon , from his first marriage, and wife Pene.
