LAPD Civilian Employee Charged With Killing Wife, Teenage Son

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A civilian Los Angeles Police Department employee was charged today with capital murder for allegedly killing his wife and teenage son in their Valley Glen apartment a day after Christmas.

Viktor Yuryevich Glukhovskiy -- who works in the LAPD Security Services Division -- is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom on two counts of murder for the Dec. 26 slayings of his wife, Natali, and their 13-year-old son, Alex, in the family's apartment in the 13800 block of Oxnard Street.

The murder charges include the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders, murder while lying in wait and murder for financial gain, along with an allegation that a shotgun was used in the killings, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penalty against the 44-year-old man, who was arrested Friday morning by detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division.

The LAPD previously reported that the suspect told investigators he arrived home at 11 p.m. Dec. 26 to find his wife and their son dead.

``This horrific loss of life is incredibly disturbing, and the fact that the accused is a civilian employee of the LAPD makes it even more troubling,'' according to an LAPD statement. ``No individual is above the law and this department will work feverishly to bring anyone who commits such a violent act to justice.''
