Garcetti Set to Speak on Nation's Future at Mayors Meeting

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is scheduled to speak today on the future of America at the 87th Winter Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington, D.C.

Garcetti is also set to lead a discussion titled “Assuring a Full and Fair 2020 Census and Inclusive Immigration Policies,” as he is chair of the Latino Alliance of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

While in Washington, Garcetti will also meet with key Congressional leaders and fellow mayors about infrastructure and other key issues, according to political adviser Yusef Robb.

Garcetti's departure for the conference was delayed because he decided to visit students heading back to class Wednesday following the teachers' strike against the Los Angeles Unified School District.

A second Los Angeles County mayor is also set to speak at the meeting Thursday -- Santa Monica Mayor Gleam Davis will speak on “Navigating Cities Through the E-Scooter Revolution” as part of a segment on new transportation technologies and opportunities.
