SANTA CLARITA (CNS) - A 22-year-old Palmdale man was killed today in a single-vehicle crash during rainy weather on a mountain road near Santa Clarita. The crash was reported about 6:30 a.m. near mile marker 15.91 on Bouquet Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim was southbound at a high rate of speed in a silver Toyota, failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into an embankment, according to the CHP. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately available.
According to the CHP, ``excessive speed'' appears to have played a role in the fatal crash, which prompted a three-hour closure of northbound Bouquet Canyon Road.
