TSA Agents Are Calling In Sick As Goverment Shutdown Continues

The government shutdown is still looming upon us and TSA workers are not pleased.

Hundreds of Transportation Security Administration officers, who are currently some of the unpaid employees who are still required to work despite the government shutdown, are calling in sick at at least four major airports.

These mass calls outs could have an affect on the timing of the air travel.

"This will definitely affect the flying public who we (are) sworn to protect," Hydrick Thomas, president of the national TSA employee union, told CNN.

At the JFK airport in New York, more than 170 employees have called out this week requiring more people to work extra shifts.

As well there has been over 200%-300% increase in call outs at Dallas-Fort Worth International airport, where typically 25 to 30 people already call out on average.

Hopefully the shutdown ends soon and these other government employees can be paid soon.
