GLENDALE (CNS) - Police released video footage today of a “person of interest” in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 72-year-old woman in Glendale.

The surveillance footage, which depicts a woman purchasing items at Castle Liquor on the corner of Allen Avenue and San Fernando Road, comes on the heels of the release of security footage of the vehicle believed to have struck down and killed 72-year-old Novar Ismailyan of Glendale on Friday evening.

The footage of the car came from a security camera located at a business on Allen Avenue, a street off Glenoaks Boulevard, according to Glendale police Sgt. Dan Suttles. That footage shows a woman getting out of her vehicle and apparently checking it for damage, he said.

“Witnesses saw the woman and have given the police detectives a description of her, as well as the vehicle,” he said.

The woman was described as being in her late 50s to early 70s, driving a black Toyota Prius.

Officers responded at 7:20 p.m. Friday to the intersection of Glenoaks Boulevard and Linden Avenue and located Ismailyan, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Suttles said. He described the area where she was killed as a “very dark” portion of Glenoaks Boulevard.

Detectives have video footage of the victim walking in the area shortly before she was struck, but do not have video of the crash, according to Suttles, who asked witnesses to the collision to come forward. The city of Glendale has offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the motorist responsible for the death.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Glendale Police Department at (818) 548-4911. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
