DA Declines to File Case Against Actor Steven Seagal

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has declined to file a case against Steven Seagal in connection with a woman's allegation that the actor sexually assaulted her in 2002.

In a charge evaluation worksheet released today, a prosecutor noted that a potential case was “previously declined for further investigation,” and that the results of the subsequent investigation did not yield evidence sufficient to meet the requirements of state law involving the statute of limitations.

“Therefore, the case is declined due to the expiration of the statute of limitations,” according to the charge evaluation worksheet, which noted that the woman alleged that she had been sexually assaulted between May 1, 2002 and Aug. 31, 2002.

Prosecutors had declined earlier this year to file a case against Seagal involving an alleged sexual assault in 1993, citing the statute of limitations.
