Two Arrested Following Theft of Delivery Van, Packages

REDONDO BEACH (CNS) - A man and woman in their 20s have been arrested in connection with the theft of a delivery van in Redondo Beach with hundreds of packages inside, police said today. 

The van, with 230 packages inside, was stolen about 2:50 p.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of Graham Avenue, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department. 

Investigators located the van a short time later in the 12500 block of Menlo Avenue in Hawthorne, police said.``Two suspects were seen removing numerous boxes that were marked with Amazon shipping tape into a nearby property,'' according to a police statement.

``Both suspects were detained without incident and all of the 230 packages with an approximate value of $10,000 were recovered and returned along with the vehicle to the delivery company. Packages that were stolen included items from Amazon and other online retailers.''

The suspects, who were both arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto and grand theft over $950, were identified as Richard Aleman, 24, and Marianna Archundia, 23, both of Hawthorne. Aleman was also accused of illegal use of a personal access card and identity theft.
