1st Safe Parking Location to Accept RVs Open in North Hills

NORTH HILLS (CNS) - Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez today visited the first of the city's ``Safe Parking'' program sites to accept recreational vehicles.

``I am proud of our efforts to address one of the growing challenges of vehicular homelessness in our city, particularly with RVs,'' Rodriguez said.

``The Safe Parking program serves a vulnerable population while also addressing the concerns in our neighborhoods.''There are five safe parking sites open across the city, with four more under development. The goal of the program is to provide a safe place to park overnight for people and families living in their vehicles, while also connecting them to housing resources and supportive services.

``There is no one-size-fits-all approach to helping folks come indoors -- and this space reflects our city's flexible, creative and bold approach to meeting and helping our homeless neighbors where they are,'' Garcetti said.

``Safe Parking gives Angelenos in need more than a place to park at night -- it connects them with resources that can put them on a path to homes of their own.''

North Valley Caring Services operates the North Hills safe parking lot at 15453 Rayen St., which also offers meals, showers and support services. The site has been in operation since October and can accommodate 20 cars and five RVs.
