Just hours after winning the Heisman Trophy, Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray had to apologize after years-old homophobic tweets were unearthed. The tweets, which have since been deleted were made by the 21-year-old quarterback when he was 14 and 15-years-old.
The tweets were mostly replies to his friends, who he routinely insulted using a homophobic slur.
"I apologize for the tweets that have come to light tonight from when I was 14 and 15. I used a poor choice of word that doesn't reflect who I am or what I believe," Murray said on Twitter. "I did not intend to single out any individual or group."
