LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A man was in custody today in connection with the weekend death of his 4-year-old daughter, who died after being taken to a hospital from a home in South Los Angeles.
Charles Richard Lee, 23, was arrested Sunday by Los Angeles Police Department Juvenile Division Detectives, and was being held on $1 million bail in connection with the death of Zaraellia Thompson, jail records show. Officers and detectives responded to County-USC Medical Center, where an ambulance took the girl about 11:15 a.m. Sunday.
``The victim had been transported from a residence in the 1500 block of East 42nd Street,'' according to an LAPD statement.
``Police were requested by hospital staff.''
After detectives conducted their initial investigation, they arrested Lee on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death, police said.
``At this time, the investigation is ongoing and is pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office,'' according to the LAPD. The coroner's office reported that an autopsy was pending.
