President Trump Rebukes CNN Reporter Jim Acosta at Press Conference

President Trump held a press conference at the White House Wednesday morning where he called out CNN reporter Jim Acosta for his "rude" behavior.

The heated exchange came after Acosta repeatedly asked the president about his stance against the U.S. border bound migrant caravans and said he was "demonizing" immigrants. He also refused to give up the microphone when Trump moved on from him and asked him to take a seat, wrestling the away the microphone from a young female White House aide who attempted to pass it to another reporter.

“You are a rude, terrible person. You shouldn’t be working for CNN,” Trump told Acosta. “The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is horrible. And the way you treat other people is horrible. You shouldn’t treat people that way.”

Acosta would not give up and continued to question the president about his midterm campaign ads featuring illegal immigrants. He then pushed the idea that the migrant caravan is "not an invasion."

Trump responded, “Honestly, I think you should let me run the country, you run CNN. And if you did it well your ratings would be much better.”

CNN went on to defend their reporter in a statement released Wednesday.

“This President’s ongoing attacks on the press have gone too far. They are not only dangerous, they are disturbingly un-American. While President Trump has made it clear he does not respect a free press, he has a sworn obligation to protect it. A free press is vital to democracy, and we stand behind Jim Acosta and his fellow journalists everywhere."
