Serial Killer Andrew Urdiales was found dead in his San Quentin State Prison cell today, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation stated in a news release Monday. Andrew Urdiales was found unresponsive in his cell during a security check on Friday night, and was pronounced dead just after midnight Saturday morning. CDCR says the death may be a possible suicide.
Urdiales was on death row for killing 5 women in SoCal. He is also convicted of killing 3 other women in Illinois.
Corrections officials also say that another inmate, who'd been on death row since 2005 for the strangulation-arson murders of four people in a Hollywood Hills home over a business dispute, was found dead in his cell at San Quentin on Sunday night. Victor Govin's death is also being investigated as a suicide, and there's no indication that his and Urdiales' deaths are related.
